The five richest women in the world alone, according to Forbes magazine's real-time figures, total more than $273.9 billion in all. Unlike men, they are not as well recognized in all spheres of society.

Francoise Bettencourt Meyers is No. 1, with $76.2 billion. In 2017, after the death of her mother, Liliane Bettencourt - who led this list for decades - she became the chairwoman of L'Oreal, the largest cosmetics company worldwide, of which she and her family own 33%.
Françoise also chairs the Bettencourt-Schueller Foundation, founded by Liliane in 1987, from which she contributes in three specific areas: sciences, arts and inclusive society. But she is not only an entrepreneur, in her spare time she writes about Judaism and Christianity, likes Greek mythology and walking in a sweatshirt in the park.
L'Oreal was founded by her grandfather, Eugène Schueller, the man remembered as the inventor of hair dye, pioneer of modern advertising (during the 1930s he financed the fascist organization La Cagoule).
