BOLDLY taking the Scottish harp where none have gone before, Catriona McKay clearly does not like pigeonholes. While firmly grounded in the folk world, as a member of Fiddlers' Bid and the Chris Stout Band, the Dundee-born musician has ranged freely across genres, partnering the harp with everything from a church organ to live electronica, Brazilian music to the Swedish nyckelharpa - a type of keyed fiddle.
"I suppose I just see it all as part of the journey I'm on with this instrument, which I'm just addicted to playing, " says McKay of the diverse endeavours that have fed into her New Voices commission, Floe.
